Getting To and Around Fairfax CountyGetting to Fairfax County is a breeze using one of the three airports in the Washington Metro area. Washington Dulles International Airport and Reagan Washington National Airport are the two primary commercial airports serving Fairfax County and Washington, D.C. A third airport, Baltimore-Washington International, is located 38 miles north of Washington, D.C. Washington Dulles International Airport, one of the fastest growing airports in the U.S., is 12 miles (19 km) from Tysons Corner and 26 miles (42 km) from downtown Washington, D.C. Non-stop service is offered daily to 81 U.S. cities. Direct and single-plane service is offered to 32 foreign cities. Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport, located east of Fairfax County and two miles (3 km) south of Washington, D.C., serves nearly 42,000 passengers a day with domestic commercial and commuter flights. Seventeen major airlines and six commuter carriers provide daily nonstop flights to 62 U.S. cities. Baltimore-Washington International Airport (BWI) is located 38 miles (51.5 km) from Fairfax County. BWI serves 45 passenger and cargo airlines and offers 660 daily commercial flights to 285 destinations in 15 countries. The Washington Metro Area's subway system—Metro—makes it easy for visitors to stay in Fairfax County and still enjoy all the offerings of Washington, D.C. Fairfax County is served by five Metrorail stations located at West Falls Church, Merrifield/Dunn Loring, Vienna/Fairfax/GMU, Huntington and Franconia/Springfield. All Fairfax County Metrorail stations have park-and-ride lots. Several interstates and parkways crisscross Fairfax County, including interstates 95, 495 and 66, connecting the major business and visitor centers in the area.
